Come Prepared

Before your arrival, be sure to have the following items prepared in advance as they are mandatory to complete the activities throughout your stay.

Fishing License

Please note that a valid BC Tidal Waters Sport Fishing Licence is required throughout the duration of all fishing expeditions. A printed and signed licence is to be carried by anglers at all times and can be purchased via the Government of Canada website after March 31.

Client Information Form

To assure that your stay at the North Shore Lodge is comfortable and enriching, we require specific information regarding your travel plans and estimated arrival time (via road or air travel), dietary requests or limitations, allergies or any other special requests to make your trip as memorable as possible. Please assure this form is completed at least six weeks before your arrival.

Check-in Time and Location

Check in at 4:00pm the day before fishing begins. We ask that all luggage be packed and out of the rooms before departing for the last day of fishing.
The North Shore Lodge is located at 2342 Beach Drive, Port McNeill.

Packing Checklist

The weather in North Vancouver Island is unpredictable. Temperatures during our season typically hover around 17°C, but can vary between highs of 26°C and lows of 11°C. It’s important to be properly prepared for all conditions. The following list of items are the essentials to making your trip enjoyable and comfortable. It is not a complete list of everything you will bring, but a solid place to start from when packing your bags!

  • Warm clothes for fishing
  • Light long underwear
  • Walking shoes
  • Prescription medications
  • Wool or polar fleece socks
  • Shorts/Swimsuit (for the hot tub)
  • Seasickness remedies
  • Wool or polar fleece sweater
  • Windbreaker
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses
  • Camera and batteries
  • Passport information (if applicable)
